Farm presentation at the Rotary Club of McAllen

Recently, I got the opportunity to speak at a Rotary Club meeting and showcase the farm.  I didn’t really know much about the Rotary Club so I did some research.

The Rotary International is a world wide organization dedicated to bringing business and professional leaders to provide humanitarian service, encourage high ethical standards, and promote peace and goodwill.  Locally, the organization breaks down into Rotary Clubs.  Their main claim to fame is the PolioPlus cause, which seeks to eradicate polio from the world.

So, I figured I’d fit right in.

Instead of using Powerpoint, I use an online program called Prezi which gets rid of slides and makes the whole screen a zooming, rotating canvas.  It’s awesome and free. (with an educational email)

So I wanted to share the presentation and let you know a little more about the farm.

They asked a lot of questions and I felt that it went really well.  I even got a plaque! And a picture with their president.

Back to the farm,

About ideadonnafarm

I am the resident farmer for IDEA Public Schools in Donna, Texas. I, along with the students, tend an acre right on the school grounds. The things I grow go straight to the students plate, fresh and healthy. This blog is about the projects, ideas (pun), and all around happenings on the IDEA Donna farm. If you live in the area and want to help out, feel free to email me at justin.tuley@ideapublicschools.org.
